Carol Burnett is one of my favorite comedians and a master of combining wit, timing, and physical comedy. I tried never to miss her show when I was a young pup, and I’m sure some of her influence found its way into my early writing. And she’s still performing. In tribute to her eighty-first birthday, I’d like to share one of my favorite bits…the parody of Gone with the Wind that she did on her show.
Happy Monday and enjoy.

Part 2
I loved her show. It was one of the few comedy variety shows that could make me laugh out loud.
Yep. Wish there were more like it. 😀
That is my favourite, also! Used to watch with my mom every week. I bought her the whole series recently (Mom and Carol are the same age), and we sat and watched them all, straight through. And despite her Alzheimer’s, she remembered most of it (she loves Mr. Tudball and Mrs. Wiggins).
Tim Conway’s character singing “Happy Birthday” to Mrs. Wiggins! 😀 😀
Absolutely the best comedienne on tv (and yes, I love Lucy, too). The ensemble she put together with Harvey Korman and Tim Conway and Vicki Lawrence had such timing. The best part for me was when they lost it during the skit. Now THAT would have been a fun job!
Yes, and a great ensemble! I loved how hard they tried not to lose it, but did anyway. Priceless!
